Police say they arrested a Long Beach man Wednesday, Jan. 5, who is allegedly responsible for a recent string of commercial robberies in the city.

Gregory Chambers, 64, was arrested and booked on suspicion of second degree robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm and illegally possessing ammunition, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Chambers was arrested on suspicion of robbing commercial businesses in the following four locations:

  • 2600 block of Pacific Avenue Dec. 22, 2021, at  approximately 9:21 p.m.
  • 1900 block of E. Wardlow Road Dec. 25, 2021 at approximately 8:30 p.m.
  • 2600 block of Santa Fe Avenue Dec. 26, 2021 at approximately 11:10 p.m.
  • 2600 block of Pacific Avenue Jan. 2, at approximately 9:45 p.m.

During his arrest, officers found evidence connecting Chambers to the robberies, including a ghost gun.

LBPD spokesperson Allison Gallagher said in an email that that the department was able to identify Chambers as the person responsible for the commercial robberies “through great collaboration between detectives, crime analysts and patrol officers,” as well as the local businesses.

His bail is set at $200,000.

At this time, it seems that none of these robberies coincide with another recent string of robberies that occurred across Long Beach early morning on Sunday, Jan. 2.
