A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing a relative in Long Beach, authorities said today.

The relative suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound to the lower body and was taken by paramedics to a hospital, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Officers dispatched at about 11 p.m. Friday to the 700 block of Loma Avenue located the stabbing victim and a preliminary investigation revealed that he and Juan Aguayo were involved in an argument that escalated into a fight, when Aguayo allegedly stabbed him.

Officers located the South Gate resident near the scene of the alleged attack. He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of nitrous oxide.

His bail was set at $30,000.
