11:30am | The Long Beach Redevelopment Agency yesterday unanimously approved a $59 million budget for Fiscal Year 2011 that includes updated plans for the downtown, central, north, west, surrounding Poly High neighborhood and Los Altos areas of the city.

The budget also included a $6 million payment made to the state of California, as mandated by the state’s raid last year on local redevelopment funds in order to boost its troubled budget. The Long Beach RDA was instructed to pay $36 million, and paid $30 million of that last year. The agency cut $10 million in projects last year to make the payment.

A recent Press-Telegram article explained the RDA budget difficulties and the adjustments made in order to accomadate the payment. Click here to read that story by reporter Karen Robes Meeks.
