5:15pm | A local homeless man accused of robbing a downtown Long Beach bank Monday morning was apprehended by police shortly after the incident, police said.
The Bank of the West branch located in City Place on the corner of Long Beach Boulevard and Fifth Street was robbed at 9:23 a.m. June 27, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The suspect, 36-year-old Jerrod Wagner, allegedly demanded cash from a teller before fleeing on foot with an unknown amount of cash, according to the LBPD.
Wagner was taken into custody by Long Beach police officers within 10 minutes of the robbery roughly two blocks away at Long Beach Boulevard and Seventh Street. He was booked on suspicion of robbery, according to the LBPD.
Wagner’s bail was set at $50,000.
