Two individuals were arrested for driving under the influence during a weekend DUI checkpoint, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced today.
The checkpoint was conducted between 7:00PM and 3:00AM on Saturday, September 10 at Pacific Coast Highway and Daisy Avenue, according to a release.
Out of the 350 vehicles screened, two field sobriety tests were performed, 10 drivers were cited or arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended, and six citations were issued for unsafe driving.
In a statement, the LBPD reminded readers that drunk driving is preventable, and recommended using the California Office of Traffic Safety Designated Driver VIP mobile app to find businesses offering incentives as a way to celebrate their life-saving commitment.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. To report a drunk driver, 9-1-1.
