7:32am | Avian enthusiasts should plan to be at El Dorado Nature Center on Saturday, when Long Beach will literally go to the birds.

The city’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine is teaming with the El Dorado Audubon, a California Chapter of the National Audubon Society, to recognize Migratory Bird Day and Endangered Species Day on May 14 by hosting the Audubon Bird Festival.

Set to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the festival will feature live education birds from South Bay Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, expert-led bird walks, an Introduction to Birding workshop, interactive and educational displays and various activities and crafts.

The event is free and open to the public.

El Dorado Nature Center is located at 7550 E. Spring St.
