3:50pm | The Long Beach Fire Department today posted a video of a recent emergency exercise to their online blog, showing footage of response to a simulated terrorist attack with involvement from Fire, Police, FBI, Coast Guard and other agencies.

The video also shows portions of a speech from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as he toured the events, and explains that the exercise simulated a terrorist invasion and landing at Rainbow Harbor in downtown Long Beach with the shooting of seven people.

While watching, I also noticed another amazing video that was recently posted to the Fire blog, this one about one week ago as a member of the Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) team rappels down the roof of the Hilton Hotel to prevent a suicidal woman from jumping. The woman was eventually taken into custody without incident.

You can hear a little radio chatter during the video, including the moment when it is announced that the woman has been reached (prompting a “Nice!” from a voice in the background). Also seen: someone waving out the window to the rappelling rescuer.
