The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Sheriff Air Rescue 5, a rescue unit based at the Long Beach Airport, rescued three “Station Fire” victims.

According to the Sheriff’s Department: “Sheriff Air Rescue 5 responded to the Angeles National Forest after a United States Forest Service Ranger reported several burn victims trapped above the fire line of the ‘Station Fire’.  After being turned back several times by fierce heat and smoke from 40 foot flames, the Air Rescue 5 crew flew above the flames and in limited visibility through the smoke. The Air Rescue 5 crew was able to locate one victim near Millcreek and two victims near Big Tujunga. The three male, adult victims had burns ranging from 40 to 60 percent of their body.  Air Rescue 5 paramedics treated the victims and transported them to the Grossman Burn Center, where they were listed in serious condition.”
