Despite a recent AP story claiming that global warming could put the Port of Long Beach underwater, this Saturday’s forecast actually has a chance of snowfall.

Five city parks will have snow and sleds brought in for children to play with as Snow Day comes to Long Beach.  There will be space to slide down the snowy slopes, as well as areas for simple snowplay.  Hot chocolate and crafts will also be available.

The city approved the event in hopes of providing a day of fun in the snow to children who may not have had the chance before – a list which apparently includes a Gazette writer, who twice referred to snow as “white stuff,” and once as “icy stuff” in this article.

In real-life weather, there is a very good chance of rain this weekend.  In that case, Snow Day will be postponed.  The five parks are listed below.

El Dorado Park West
Cesar Chavez Park
Houghton Park
Silverado Park
McBride Park
