The Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club announced its hosting of the 34th annual Human Rights Banquet and Awards Dinner today, set for Saturday, October 17 at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach.

Honorees for the event include Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell (set to receive the Michael Lonergan Memorial Award), Councilmember Roberto Uranga (set to receive the Franklin Cook Memorial Award) and Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal (set to receive the President’s Award).

The Lambda Democratic Club has been hosting the Human Rights Banquet and Awards Dinner since 1981 to raise money to assist the organization in its mission to advocate and support the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and recognize community leaders for their contributions.

The remaining honorees include:

  • Amy Eriksen and Griselda Suarez – Jean Harris Person(s) of the Year Award (Given to a member(s) of the LGBT community for their efforts toward furthering human rights and the visibility of the LGBT community).
  • LBUSD Board Member Megan Kerr – Senator Jenny Oropeza Ally of the Year Award (Given to an ally for their support of the LGBT community).
  • Hamburger Marys – Donald Snow Memorial (Given to a non-political organization for their efforts toward furthering human rights and the visibility of the LGBT community).
  • Gary Crummitt & Associates – Rob Kramme Memorial Award – (Given to an organization for their efforts toward furthering human rights and the visibility of the LGBT community through political activism).
  • Stella Ursua – Paul Self Memorial Award (Given to member of the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club for their demonstrated leadership toward furthering human rights and the visibility of the LGBT community).
