It’s happening again: the 27th Institute Class of Leadership Long Beach will be presented at the locally renowned organization’s annual Community Welcome Reception on Monday, August 31 from 5:30PM to 7:00PM at Rancho Los Alamitos, Leadership Long Beach (LLB) announced last week.
Per usual, a mix of local government officials, community and business leaders and LLB alumni will be on hand to celebrate its newest graduating class. The meeting is the kickoff of this year’s LLB program, where the organization will incorporate its alumni into the community through events and leadership development courses designed to have leaders help solve community problems and make a positive impact.
“We are extremely pleased to introduce the Institute Class of 2016 as well as announce our plans for Leadership Long Beach in the upcoming year,” said LLB Board President Veronica Davalos in a statement. “We met with many fantastic candidates for this year’s class and after making some very difficult decisions, ultimately decided to admit 32 local leaders into the program. Leadership Long Beach is thankful that there is such great interest in our principled leadership programs, and we hope that the others who applied will return again next year. We are sure that this new crop of leaders will help extend our reach in order to better serve our diverse community.”
LLB consists of a 10-month program that includes class members representing diverse segments of the community, where they attend day-long classes and learn about leadership values in the context of helping the Long Beach community. Upon graduating from the program, the graduating class completes service projects that demonstrate their understanding of the community, according to an LLB release.
A total of 125 community service projects have been completed by LLB class alumni, and in 2011, LLB graduated its 1,000th participant from its three principled leadership programs.
