The Long Beach Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI saturation patrol in the south and east sections of the city this weekend.

From 8PM Saturday night to 4AM Sunday morning, officers will be placed in locations with the greatest opportunity for acheiving drunk and drugged driving arrests and will be contacting drivers looking for signs of impairment.

This weekend’s patrol is part of LBPD’s citywide crackdown on drunk driving, which is spurred by a frightening statistic. Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions in Long Beach have claimed 13 lives and resulted in 274 injury crashes harming 388 people.
