Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) Assistant Chief Dave Kean retired from the City of Long Beach on Friday, March 18, the LBFD announced this weekend.
Kean has served the LBFD for nearly 32 years as a firefighter, arson investigator, captain and battalion chief and has been a member of command staff for the last two years as the assistant fire chief in Operations, according to the release.
Kean also served as a pilot in the United States Army Reserve for nearly three decades, including three tours of duty where he was positioned in a combat zone during both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
The recruitment process to find Kean’s replacement is underway, while Battalion Chief Mike Nadolski will act as interim assistant chief until a replacement is announced, according to the LBFD.
“We wish Assistant Chief Dave Kean the best in his retirement and thank him for his dedication to the Long Beach Fire Department and to our Country,” the LBFD release stated.
