
The Long Beach Junior Chamber crowned two of the city’s finest young ladies as Miss Long Beach and Miss Teen Long Beach 2008. The pageant winners will focus on an area of community service and receive assistance from the LBJC to achieve their goals.
Miss Long Beach Lana Luyben is a 21-year-old CSULB student majoring in Communications while working at Disneyland as a parade performer. Her platform will be breast cancer awareness and prevention, and Luyben seeks to create a walk/run fundraiser for cancer research called “Queens for a Cure” in the Spring of 2009.
Miss Teen Long Beach Hillary Stortz is a 15-year-old student at Millikan who is an active member of the International Peace Choir. She will focus on helping the community’s children through the Youth Helping Youth Campaign.
The winning ladies will hold their positions for one year and serve as ambassadors and hostesses at Long Beach events and community charities. The Long Beach Junior Chamber will be there to guide their progress as they work toward achieving their ambitious goals.
