
Neighborhoods: USA will be recognizing a neighborhood organization for having developed or implemented a project that benefited its neighborhood in 2007. Nominate your neighborhood organization and be the “Neighborhood of the Year (NOTY)!”
This is your chance to talk big about your neighborhood organization and the positive impact it’s had in the beautiful city of Long Beach in 2007!
The application deadline is March 1, 2008 and you can get more information by attending a workshop at the Long Beach Neighborhood Resource Center (425 Atlantic Ave.) on January 23, 2008 from 6:30- 7:30 pm. Reserve your space by calling 562-570-1010 or emailing Sharon Hinkey.
The categories outlined in the application are:
1) Physical Revitalization/Beautification – Single Neighborhood
This category includes projects that are initiated by one neighborhood organization and focus on the physical aspects of a neighborhood such as parks, green spaces, housing improvement, lighting, litter control, traffic management, signage, neighborhood business district enhancement, etc.
2) Social Revitalization/Neighborliness – Single Neighborhood
This category includes projects that are initiated by one neighborhood and focus on the social or cultural aspects of a neighborhood; such as neighborhood safety, neighborhood youth and seniors, activities that help neighbors feel connected and foster a spirit of cooperation such as neighborhood festivals and celebrations, etc.
3) Multi Neighborhood Partnerships
This category includes projects that are jointly sponsored by at least two neighborhood or community organizations in a collaborative effort. They can address physical, social or other project areas.
