Start planning your detours now—The Orange County Transportation Authority announced on Friday that the necessary two-week closure of the I-605 to I-405 southbound connector will be starting July 30 at 10PM.

Though originally slated to happen sometime in late 2012, the closure has been bumped up to this summer in order to complete it before beginning the Seal Beach Blvd. bridge reconstruction. The full closure is necessary as part of the ongoing West County Connectors project, which is realigning the interchange to accomodate the widening of the 405 and new carpool lanes between the 405 and 605 freeways.

Detailed detours for both directions of traffic are available through the OCTA website. More specific information on the reopening date will be provided as construction begins.
