Long Beach will be feeling a slight improvement during the heatwave this week as temperatures are forecasted to hover around the low- to mid-80s, according to the National Weather Service.

In recent days, however, the air has grown heavy, with peak-heat —afternoon levels uncomfortably above 50%. For the upcoming week, other forecasting companies estimate humidity percentage levels ranging between the 30% and 60% levels.

The city announced Thursday that its cooling centers will only be open until the end of Sunday at 6 p.m., however it has repeatedly extended cooling center operations this past week as the heat wave continues.
