10:01am | A fire broke out on the roof of an apartment building in Bixby Knolls Wednesday afternoon.
The rooftop of the four-story structure in the 1200 block of San Antonio Drive caught fire just prior to 5:11 p.m., when a 9-1-1 caller alerted the Long Beach Fire Department to the blaze.
Firefighter Steve Yamamoto, an LBFD spokesman, told the Press-Telegram that Engine No. 11 and Truck No. 11 were on the scene in less than four minutes.
It reportedly took firefighters less than seven minutes to knock down the fire.
While the cause of the blaze is still being probed, Yamamoto reportedly said it appeared as though the roof is under construction.
One unit in the apartment building suffered water damage when the fire triggered the apartment’s sprinkler system, according to the PT. Firefighters reportedly vacuumed up the water that had filled the apartment.
The damage to the building was reportedly estimated to be about $50,000.
