8:30pm | Congressional candidate Star Parker (R) arrived at the DoubleTree Hotel in Carson to raucous applause from supporters at her Election Night party, saying that she feels optimistic both for her party and her own race against incumbent Laura Richardson (D).

“I want to be there too,” Parker said when she addressed the crowd. “I want us to make history has well.”

Parker would become the first black female Republican in Congress if elected tonight.

“I feel good,” she said. “Whatever the results are tonight, everyone made a difference in this campaign and I want you to remember that tonight.”

Parker told stories of meeting with voters who had never supported Republicans before – people who had “believed the lie of the Left,” as Parker describes it – but promised to follow her to the ballot box.

She closed by stressing her commitment to strengthen non-profits with charity tax credits, create “schools that work” and bring jobs to the 37th District
