Patrick Brown has been announced as the new Head of School for Westerly School, an independent educational institution in East Long Beach.
Effective July 1, Brown will replace outgoing Head of School, Chris Rodenhizer, who he will shadow for the next six months.
Brown brings in experience that includes 25 years in independent school education and administration, with 15 of those years as Head of School. He was Head of School for 12 years at an elementary school level. He has taught middle school and high school, and has coached varsity basketball, baseball and softball.
“In his role as Head at St. Michael’s Parish Day School, Patrick guided curriculum design and implementation to ensure sequential and coordinated objectives to create an outstanding independent school curriculum,” said David Perram, Director of Student Affairs at Westerly. “Under Patrick’s leadership, the school thrived financially and grew enrollment. In addition, Patrick led 3 major fundraising campaigns and successfully managed $6.4M in construction projects.”
Rodenhizer said he was excited to pass the Head of School title to Brown.
“I could not be more excited to have Patrick guide Westerly to its next phase,” he said. “His natural connection to students, insightful questions about our community, and excitement of his appointment, give me great assurance that this amazing little school is in the right hands.”
