Long Beach City College (LBCC) was named as the 2014 Entrepreneurial College by the National Association of Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) earlier this week.

The award was given to LBCC at NACCE’s 12th annual conference in Phoenix based on its leadership of developing and launching small business and entrepreneurial programs in the last nine years.

“Long Beach City College is a shining example of what a community college can do when it commits itself to developing and supporting entrepreneurship,” said NACCE President and CEO Heather Van Sickle in a statement. “As an active entity within the Southern California entrepreneur ecosystem, the college has mobilized and gathered resources within the ecosystem to assist early stage and established entrepreneurs through interconnected programs that support them at critical points in their lifecycle, providing them with business skill-sets, resources and relationships to help them succeed. Job creation is central to the entrepreneurship programs at LBCC.”
