An early morning fire that started with flames engulfing a vehicle damaged a single-story vehicle collision repair center in the Washington area of Long Beach today, according to the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD).

A release issued Tuesday morning stated that LBFD personnel were dispatched at 4:24AM to the 1400 block of Long Beach Boulevard on reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, the crew discovered “heavy fire and smoke through the roof” of an unoccupied vehicle collision repair center with difficult access, according to the release.

Firefighters extinguished the fire within 10 minutes and the building sustained heavy damage, according to the release.

No firefighter injuries were reported, and the cause of fire is under investigation.
