9:01pm | Long Beach residents interested in learning about disaster preparedness are invited to attend an event on the topic being held Tuesday by the city’s Neighborhood Services Bureau.

The event will take place at the Mark Twain Neighborhood Library, 1401 E. Anaheim St.,  in the community room from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Free parking is available in the adjacent parking lot.

According to information provided by City Hall spokesman Ed Kamlan, Veronica Ornelas of the city’s Health and Human Services Department will present disaster preparedness information at the event, which is designed to educate the community on how to be ready for emergencies. She will touch on topics including creating an emergency plan, emergency preparedness tips and preparing emergency kits.
