Long Beach police on Dec. 13 arrested a 57-year-old man they believe went on an armed-robbery spree in and around Long Beach from Nov. 27 to Dec. 7.

Darrell Tatum, of Long Beach, was charged Monday with six felony counts of robbery and six firearm enhancements, according to police. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department also issued a no-bail warrant on him for similar robberies in Las Vegas and the Signal Hill Police Department informed the Long Beach Police Department they had similar robberies as well, the LBPD said.

“Pursuant to his arrest, detectives served a search warrant at his residence and collected a loaded firearm and evidence related to the robberies,” the LBPD said.

Detectives believe Tatum held up at least seven businesses, including a pet store, restaurants and a wireless store, police said.

“In each of the incidents, the suspect armed with a handgun approaches the cashier attempting to purchase an item,” police said. “Once the cashier opens the till, the suspect then robs the cashier and flees the location.”

Police released photos and security camera footage of the suspect doing just that on Dec. 10.

Detectives believe there may be other victims out there and asked that any commercial business employee who believes they were a victim of Tatum’s to call Det. Jacqueline Parkhill at 562-570-5535.
