Long Beach police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of intentionally hitting a car, causing a man to be ejected and running him over before fleeing in August, officials said.

Police arrested Christian Ortega-Lopez from Norwalk on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of a controlled substance while armed and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said.

Detectives believe Ortega-Lopez on Aug. 10 got into a fight with two men and a woman he knew on the 2300 block of East South Street. It’s unclear what the nature of the relationship was between the four people.

When the two men and woman tried to leave in their vehicle, Ortega-Lopez followed them in his own vehicle and intentionally struck them hard enough to eject one of the men in the area of Rose Avenue and East 64th Street, Gallagher said.

“The suspect then intentionally struck the victim who was down on the ground with his vehicle before fleeing the scene,” Gallagher said.

Police were called to the area at about 9:15 that night and paramedics took all three victims to local hospitals for their injuries.

Ortega-Lopez is being held on a $3,130,000 bail, police said.
