One man is dead after a suspect fired several rounds into a group of people standing in front of a North Long Beach residence, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) said in a statement released today.
According to a statement from the LBPD, on Friday at approximately 11:42PM, Long Beach Police responded to the 100 block of Platt Street in regard to reports of shots fired.
Arriving officers discovered a male adult down on the street who had sustained a gunshot wound. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Donald Parks of Long Beach, the LBPD reports.
According to the LBPD, a preliminary investigation revealed the victim was outside in front of a residence with a group of individuals when the suspect approached on foot and fired several rounds toward the group. The LBPD said no other injuries related to this incident were reported, and the suspect is not in custody at this time.
