A man was injured during a shooting Friday night—one of two reported over the weekend—but is expected to survive, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The first shooting happened Friday, March 11 at about 9:00PM on the 700 block of East 1st Street, in the city’s East Village neighborhood.

Officers responding to reports of a shooting found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said.

She said the victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Authorities are investigating the shooting as possibly gang-related. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Long Beach Police Department Gang Detail at 562.570.7370.

Police were also dispatched to a shots heard call on Saturday, March 12 at about 10:25PM near the 1000 block of Cerritos Avenue, near Lincoln Elementary School.

Arrona said officers found evidence of a shooting but no injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
