A man was sent to a local hospital in critical condition following a shooting in Long Beach Tuesday night, authorities said.

Police responded to the shooting call on the 500 block of Cherry Avenue, in the city’s Rose Park South neighborhood, at 10:24PM on Tuesday, July 12, said Sgt. Brad Johnson of the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Arriving officers found the 43-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso, Johnson said. Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel transported him to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

It is unknown if the shooting is gang-related, he said. The investigation remains ongoing.
