UPDATE | Authorities have identified a man fatally shot in the city’s West Side neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Police found Long Beach resident Christopher Delatorre, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso when they were dispatched to a shots heard call on the 2300 block of Cameron Street at 2:25AM on Saturday, March 19.

Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel pronounced the subject dead at the scene, LBPD officials stated. 

Authorities are investigating the incident as gang-related.

3/19/16 at 3:10PM | A man was killed during a shooting in the city’s West Side early Saturday morning, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials said.

Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Cameron Street at 2:25AM on Saturday, March 19 regarding a shots heard call, LBPD spokesman Brad Johnson said.  

“While responding to the scene they were advised that there was a subject down in the street,” he added. 

Arriving officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso, according to officials.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel. 

It is unknown if the shooting is gang-related. The investigation remains ongoing.
