Early Thursday morning, a call from a resident following the “If you see something, say something” mantra resulted in the booking of a suspect on Grand Theft Auto charges, Resisting Arrest and Vandalism.
According to an LBPD Facebook post, officers were dispatched to 11th Street and Bennett Avenue, responding to a 911 call from a concerned resident.
“Officers found the vehicle had been reported stolen and there was a possible suspect still inside,” stated the post. “Officers ordered the suspect out of the vehicle but he refused.”
The LBPD went on to state the suspect, Lee Anthony Armijo, 33, broke out of the vehicle’s windows and began throwing items out as he yelled at officers, threatening to kill himself. The SWAT team had been requested, but the situation changed before their arrival.
Officers were able to take the suspect into custody, using less lethal options and the deployment of a K-9.
