A man was wounded Tuesday night when another man shot him for an unknown reason and then fled, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police said both men were in a car on 20th Street near Lime Avenue when one of the men “discharged a firearm, striking the victim.”

The gunman fled before officers arrived, police said. The wounded man, who’d been shot in the lower body, was taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to the LBPD.

Police said they’re still trying to gather a suspect description and determine a motive.
