Police arrested two men on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a man was attacked in a parking lot outside a popular stretch of bars and and restaurants on Marina Drive, according to authorities.
The incident started with an altercation in a parking lot around 10 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Marina Drive, police said. The Ballast Point tasting room, Boathouse on the Bay restaurant and Malainey’s Grill & One Hell of an Irish Bar all share a parking lot at that location.
The altercation escalated into a fight that left a man with cuts on his upper body after one of the attackers pulled out an object he used as a weapon, although officers aren’t sure what it was, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.
The victim declined any medical treatment, and police took the two suspected attackers into custody, De Prez said.
Police identified the suspected attackers as Moises Garcia, 22, of Paramount, and Andrew Flores, 23, of Bellflower.
Both were booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said. Garcia was additionally booked on possession of a controlled substance, bringing a controlled substance into a jail and an outstanding warrant, police said.
