An armed robbery Thursday afternoon resulting in an officer-involved shooting ended with three suspects being taken into custody, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) said.
At approximately 3:57PM, LBPD officers responded to the 400 block of Cowles Street regarding an armed robbery that had just occurred, according to Marlene Arrona of the LBPD.
Responding officers encountered the potential suspects, and an officer-involved shooting occurred after one of the suspects brandished a handgun. Two suspects were immediately taken into custody.
A containment was set up and after a brief search, a third suspect was taken into custody, with no suspects or officers injured.
A handgun was recovered from the scene, police said.
The suspects were described as two 19-year-old men from Long Beach and a 20-year-old man from Compton whose names are being withheld due to the ongoing investigation.
Police at advising drivers to avoid Anaheim Street between Cedar Avenue and Chestnut Avenue, due to heavy traffic.
