In observance of the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day holidays, the City of Long Beach has taken the following changes to city services schedules:

Long Beach Transit:
Some Transit routes will operate special holiday service on January 1. For the schedule, click here.

Parking Meters:
Parking meters that are labeled exempt or not enforced on holidays will not be enforced on January 1. It should be noted that some meters are enforced 365 days per year. Days and hours of enforcement are posted inside the meters. All meters and time zones will be enforced on December 31.

Street Sweeping:
Street sweeping parking regulations will not be enforced on Januart 1. Red, white and blue curbs are always enforced, even on holidays. Street sweeping will occur on its regular schedule before and after the holidays with no holidays or make-ups, including on December 31.

Trash Pick-Up:
Refuse and recycling will not be collected January 1. Collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week, ending on Saturday.

Libraries:
All Long Beach Public Libraries will be closed January 1 all day and will close at 5:00PM on December 31. Online resources and the digital library are open 24/7 for last-minute research and downloads. All libraries will re-open to the public at 10:00AM on January 2.

    • Code Enforcement services
    • Fire Headquarters, Support Services (ECOC), Fire Prevention, & Operations, including Marine Safety Administration
    • Gas Services (Emergencies: 570-2140)
    • Health Department and Health facilities
    • Libraries
    • Marina offices
    • Park offices, City pools, Senior Center (4th and Orange)
    • El Dorado Nature Center
    • Neighborhood Resource Center
    • Police Administration
    • Street Sweeping
    • Water Department (Emergencies: 570-2390)

Open on January 1:

    • Fire stations and Lifeguard stations
    • Main Police Station Front Desk
