For the 14th year in a row, LBTV was recognized at the States of California and Nevada National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (SCAN NATOA) conference. LBTV, the City of Long Beach’s cable channel, won eight government programming STAR awards at the 18th annual conference, which was held in Santa Monica last week.
SCAN NATOA is a nonprofit dedicated to examining governmental telecommmunications across the Southwest region, focusing heavily on not just recognizing high-quality public television but fostering consumer rights for both public and private telecommunication services.
“These awards are well-deserved because LBTV provides outstanding programming that keeps our residents informed, entertained, and connected throughout the community,” Mayor Bob Foster said in a statement.
Among its recognitions, LBTV was awarded STARs for “Overall Excellence in Government Programming,” “100 Days of Summer,” “Quick Quake Tips,” “Sports Break” amd “Heart of the City.” It also won second place for “Pulse of the Port” and “First Responders,” and third place for a special feature on the “Environmental Collection Center.”
LBTV can be viewed in Long Beach on Charter Communications’ cable channel 3, Verizon’s FiOS TV Channel 21 and online at www.LBTV3.com.
