Commander Richard Rocchi has been promoted to Deputy Chief of the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), announced Long Beach City Manager Pat West and Police Chief Robert Luna today.
Rocchi, a 27-year veteran of the LBPD and Long Beach’s Poly High alum, will begin his new position tomorrow, filling a vacancy that was left when Luna, former deputy chief, was appointed chief.
“Richard Rocchi displays the highest levels of integrity, service and community engagement,” Chief Luna said. “His consistent dedication and professionalism has earned him the trust and respect of those within the Police Department and throughout the community.”
Rocchi previously worked as Commander of the West Division, and began working for the LBPD in 1987.
“I am honored to be named Deputy Chief, and I will continue to dedicate myself to providing the best service possible to our committed employees and the entire community,” Commander Rocchi said.
Mayor Robert Garcia said Rocchi’s appointment is warmly welcomed for the city.
“Commander Richard Rocchi is an outstanding choice to serve as our Deputy Police Chief,” he said. “His integrity, experience, and commitment to our city will serve the department and our residents very well. I have full confidence in him and look forward to working together.”
