Lakewood vs. Mayfair
Tuesday, 3:15pm @ Mayfair High School (Directions)
Lately, the Lancers haven’t been hitting the ball like they usually do, only scoring three runs over the last two games. They couldn’t have picked a worse time to have sleeping bats because the Mayfair Monsoons have the arms for the upset. Kristin Jaeger and her 0.68 ERA will start the game in the circle, and Nicole Malburg and her 0.82 ERA can step in at any time. Jaeger (#8) has almost thrown 2,000 pitches this year, striking our 162 batters, but also walking 56. If the Lancers can stay patient and get a big hit or two, it could be a 1-0 game just like last week.

Millikan vs. Villa Park
Tuesday, 3:15pm @ Villa Park High School (Directions)
To say Millikan’s first-round victory over Mission Viejo was crazy wouldn’t do it justice (Video Highlight). As coach Scott Glasser said with a sigh after the 8-4 win, “Well, that was a little unorthodox.” The scrappy Rams have found success playing small ball and getting good pitching, and this week they will see another mirror image of themselves. Winners of 8 of their last 10, the Villa Park Spartans won their first-round game 2-1, and have only scored 147 runs this year. But, they’ve only given up 92 runs with a 2.27 team ERA.
