Two weeks after Hof’s Hut’s oldest Marina location permanently shuttered due to what owners said was a lease disagreement, the American casual chain’s parent company says it has a new name and a new eatery franchise that it will hopefully be launching in May.
Hof’s Hut Restaurants, Inc. announced on Tuesday it has changed its corporate name to Hofman Hospitality Group, a name more inclusive of the company’s three brands–Hof’s Hut, Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que and SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza, the latter of which the company aquired all West Coast franchise rights to last year.
“As our restaurant business continues to grow and incorporate additional concepts into our portfolio, it made logical sense that our corporate name reflect that growth,” said Craig Hofman, president, Hofman Hospitality Group.
The company has expanded since being established in 1951 when the first Hof’s Hut and Bakery location opened in Long Beach. Born out of a beachside burger stand founded by Craig Hofman’s father, Harold, Hof’s Hut over the years opened five locations across Orange County and the South Bay before opening the first Lucille’s in 1999. There are now 16 Lucille’s restaurants in California, Arizona and Nevada with two more planned to open in 2013.
In 2012, Signal Hill-based Hof’s Hut Restaurants, Inc. signed on as the first franchise partner of SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza, a Kansas City, Missouri-based chain, which it plans to develop 35 locations in Southern California over the next 10 years. The first is slated to open in the city of Orange in May.
