A Bluff Park home was damaged Thursday morning after a detached garage that was under construction in the back caught on fire, fire officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched around 8:35 a.m. to the 2300 block of E. Second Street after reports that smoke was emanating from the back of a two-story house.
Four minutes later, Long Beach Fire Department personnel were on the scene attempting to knock the fire down, LBFD spokesperson Jake Heflin said.
Heflin said firefighters extinguished the fire at 8:54 a.m. and the last units were cleared after about an hour and a half. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and the incident remains under investigation, he said.
