Authorities are searching for witnesses to a non-injury hit and run which occurred in Alamitos Beach on Sunday night.
Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to the scene of the hit-and-run involving a white vehicle in the area of Alamitos and Third Street at about 6:40PM, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.
While information about the incident is minimal, the Long Beach Post received a tip from a reader about what may have occurred before the collision.
“Last night (I think before 7 pm) my daughter and I almost got hit by a white SUV being chased or followed by a blue car at speed of almost 100,” said a reader, in an email. “It was speeding so fast going the wrong way down Gaviota when it turned going the wrong way on Appleton (where we almost got hit). Seconds later we hear a loud crash and everyone came out. It had hit and run a parked truck. Cops came after we called 911…then we heard a helicopter. The cop had said that they got many calls about this car speeding for a while on Ocean Blvd.”
Arrona said anyone with information about this incident is urged to call LBPD Collision Investigations Detail at 562-570-7355.
