Dear Mayor, City Council and City Management:

I first heard about the Armory Park proposal about two years ago.  Since then, I have followed the debate and progress of the proposal closely.  Brian Ulaszewski’s concept is innovative and creates a park in a neighborhood that is desperate for open space.  This community deserves our commitment and attention.

The park proposal calls for the realignment of a portion of 6th Street, 7th Street, Alamitos Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.  Armory Park would green and simplify this dangerous series of intersections.

The staging-live.lbpost.com has run a series of stories about Armory Park.  We have been amazed by the response.

Our last Armory Park story has registered nearly seventy comments, a record for the staging-live.lbpost.com.  All of the comments were positive and supportive of the proposal.  There have been very few proposals in this city that has drawn such unanimous community support.  Over 20 community groups and local stakeholders have endorsed Armory Park.

On behalf of our readers, we ask you to move Armory Park forward.

We have been so impressed with Brian and because of his unique perspective and ability we have asked him to be a contributor to our publication where he shares his views of the environment and how it affects our way of life.

Go Long Beach & Go Armory Park !

Robert Garcia
