The Long Beach Fire Department reported a Monday morning kitchen fire that caused major damage to the upstairs unit of a four-unit building, leaving the three adults who resided in the apartment homeless.
LBFD officials say that arson investigators are examining the scene as part of the search into the cause of the morning fire, which started at around 11:20AM on the second floor of a building in the 1300 block of Stanley Ave. Two people were inside of the apartment when flames erupted in the kitchen, but both were able to escape unharmed. The apartment where the fire started suffered heavy damage in the blaze and it appears the only unit burned.
Three people were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
