9:30am | One of Long Beach’s busiest stretches of road is set to get a facelift that should be completed this August.  Next Monday, the City will begin work on repaving 2nd Street – from PCH to Bayshore Avenue – and expects to begin paving in mid-July, according to an announcement from 3nd District City Councilmember Gary DeLong.

Contractors will be required to keep at least one lane open in each direction to keep traffic moving, but the project is sure to slow down the flow. Of course, the tradeoff is a heavily improved street that will include new pavement, electrical upgrades, new traffic striping and markers, and a series of new concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks.

Work will be conducted between 7:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday and the contractor will post “No Parking” signs as construction is going on.
