Long Beach police cited 10 people during a DUI checkpoint Friday in the city’s West Division, authorities said.

A total of 1,017 vehicles made their way through the checkpoint, which was on Pacific Coast Highway and Daisy Avenue from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Police screened 276 drivers, citing 10 for operating a vehicle without a license or driving with a suspended license, the LBPD said Saturday morning. No arrests were made.

According to the LBPD, checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests, with the main purpose being to deter people from driving while impaired.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
