Musical performances, including a solo exhibition in the North Gallery of EXPO Arts Center, <\/strong>will feature local artist Vincent Mattina\u2019s<\/strong> steampunk-inspired digital art. It will also highlight the return of the locally-revered improvisational performance duo Toaster Music<\/a> after a month-long hiatus, featuring Chapman Stick player, Art Valdez and Maha and Company as special guests. You’ll defnitely need to check out the completion of Dave Van Patten\u2019s<\/a> mural on the north side of The Allery<\/strong> on Burlinghall and Atlantic Avenue. The grand opening of the alley-turned-community-gathering-space was celebrated last month. Even more, BREAKING THROUGH, Lighting the Way<\/a><\/em><\/strong> at February\u2019s First Fridays art walk gives you a chance to take another look at the collection of historical profiles paying tribute to the \u201cfirst and second black women to hold positions of employment that had once excluded African Americans,\u201d at the First Fridays tabletop exhibit at the Historical Society of Long Beach.<\/p>\n Saturday’s Beach Streets Uptown<\/a><\/strong> is sure to be a fun-filled event with different concerts, eating venues, activities and traffic-less streets to stroll or cycle through. How can you keep track of all these activities without missing a beat during this historical first Open Streets affair for the city? It’ll help you find all the concerts, festivals, restaurant specials, Zumba classes, art activities and more throughout the extravaganza.<\/p>\n We know you’ve been working like a dog all week, so Saturday night, head over to Sunnyside Cemetery for the official kick off of Long Beach Cinematheque’s 2015 Lola’s Outdoor Retro Cinema series<\/strong><\/a>, with the Beatles’ classic A Hard Day\u2019s Night<\/strong>, accompanied by a live performance by Britain\u2019s Finest<\/a><\/strong>. Gates open at 6:30PM, and tickets are available online or at the event.<\/p>\n Everybody loves a good brunch. Most people like art and even more like the ocean. Swing by the “Artists of Hotel Maya<\/a><\/strong>” art show and Sunday brunch on June 7 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM to start your summer off right with a dose of live Latin American music, plenty of ocean breezes on the Fuego patio, and a look at some locally famous and internationally renowned artists’ work.<\/p>\n Do you consistently daydream of the deep blue sea? Now would be your chance to learn everything there is to know about scuba diving at the 28th annual Scuba Show at the Long Beach Convention Center<\/a> <\/strong>on Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7. Deemed \u201cAmerica\u2019s largest consumer scuba expo,\u201d attendees will have the opportunity to personally connect with diving\u2019s passionate community.<\/p>\n
