Image courtesy Dine Out Long Beach.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The next two weeks will be the time to eat out in the city as the sixth annual <a href=\"https:\/\/staging-live.lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/dine-out-long-beach-returns-with-special-menus-and-dog-friendly-dining\">Dine Out Long Beach event<\/a> returns April 1 -15.<\/p>\n<p>Over 60 restaurants and breweries across the city are crafting their own food and drink menus for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, highlighting some of their best offerings or new items entirely.<\/p>\n<p>The specialty menus range from multi-course meals and chef tasting menus to small plates paired with cocktails and wine. There are even a few shared meals\u20141 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 dessert\u2014to devour at the restaurant or for take-out. Image courtesy Makersville\/Eventbrite.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From April 3 &#8211; 11, families can bring their kids to Makersville headquarters in Shoreline Village to play and tinker with their newest Rube Goldberg contraption.<\/p>\n<p>To the uninitiated, these mechanisms are reaction-type machines that take very complicated steps to do simple tasks. Impractical, yes, but very entertaining and a good lesson in simple machines and physics.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Makersville has made a Goldberg contraption that causes a box of Nerds to shake and pour (view video below).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Final Rube Goldberg Contest Entry:Shake and Pour A Box of Nerds\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bbZodjgY5ek?start=7&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Other attractions include the Lego great ball and other Rube Goldberg-style contraptions.
