The Los Angeles County Arts Commission announced Monday $4.518 million in two-year grants to 196 nonprofit arts organizations through its Organizational Grant Program (OGP).<\/p>\n
Grants are given to organizations providing services throughout Los Angeles County and that are located in 46 of the County\u2019s 88 municipalities. Individual grant awards range from $3,100 to $152,600, with 11 percent of the organizations funded receiving county arts grants for the first time.<\/p>\n
Eleven of those organizations are in Long Beach, and received more than $270,000 in grant funds to continue providing cultural services to their diverse communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cArts and cultural organizations throughout LA County provide direct access, increased opportunities, and often free or low-cost arts activities and programming,\u201d Pamela Bright-Moon, president of the Arts Commission, said in a statement. \u201cThrough the ongoing funding commitment of the Board of Supervisors, OGP is able to support organizations that are making a tremendous impact for residents, neighborhoods and communities Countywide.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over 70 panelists from the arts community, including artists, nonprofit arts administrators and members of the academic community, reviewed and scored each grant application.<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles County Arts Commission fosters understanding, excellence and accessibility of the arts in the county, providing leadership and cultural services.<\/p>\n
