Music Tastes Good (MTG) will return to Marina Green park on September 29 and 30 with iconic British New Wave band New Order to headline Saturday and Grammy-nominated, Mercury Prize-winning English singer-songwriter James Blake on Sunday, organizers announced today.
Saturday’s lineup will feature Canadian indie rock collective Broken Social Scene, plus Joey Bada$$, Santigold, Lil B, Princess Nokia, Blake Mills, Big Thief, Cherry Glazerr, Oliver Tree, Shame, Los Master Plus, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, NO BS! Brass Band, Radiolistener: Tribute to Isaiah “Ikey” Owens, Feels, Neighbor Lady, Forest of Tongue, BLCKNOISE, Haunted Summer and Manuel The Band.
On Sunday, The Black Angels, Lizzo, Parquet Courts, The Church (performing the album Starfish), Sun Kil Moon, Bill Callahan, Hollie Cook, Hailu Mergia, Ezra Furman, Ladama, The Blow, De Lux, Ethio Cali, B.A.G. (Blimes x Gifted Gab), Fling, Baum, Hana Vu, Asi Fui and NO BS! Brass Band will take the stage.
Originally Vince Staples was slated to perform on Sunday, as KCRW announced this morning, however an MTG spokesperson clarified the Long Beach native will not be a part of the lineup due to a scheduling conflict. MTG officials are working to replace Staples with an artist yet to be announced.
“Our 2018 festival is bigger, wilder, and tastier than ever, as we continue to celebrate Long Beach by doing our best to curate an eclectic array of music and culinary talent–hopefully finding something for everyone,” said MTG Creative Director Chris Watson. “It’s an honor to be able to throw a party like this and we hope y’all enjoy it.”
This year’s MTG Taste Tent will bring guest chefs from Port Cities of the West Coast, with panels and food demos by culinary masters from San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Long Beach and more. The tent will be open to everyone this year with no additional ticket types needed. Guests can interact with the chefs, watch the panels and demos, and purchase food tastes a la carte.
Food offerings will range from gourmet tacos, West Coast seafood, modern Spanish tapas, fried mushroom po-boys, handmade ice cream, raw vegan delights and more, according to the announcement. Menus will be posted later in the year.
