The Long Beach Cinematheque is, once again, up to its usual ‘mad genius’ antics. Tomorrow evening, they’re presenting a screening of the perennial favorite, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off which, to be honest, would be enough. For them, however, it isn’t.

They’ve worked with MADhouse, Hollywood Outdoor Movies, and many others to create a unique ‘drive-in’ experience at the historic Press Telegram building on 6th & Pine Avenue. That’s right. You park your car in the lot directly East of the building, and enjoy the audio on your car’s FM receiver. That’s pretty amazing, right? How could they possibly cram any more into such an already fantastic event?

Well, they partnered with the organizers of the weekly ZaSo Design District’s Lunch Truck It events to bring a bunch of gourmet food trucks, including breakfast favorites from Buttermilk, sweet treats from Chunk ‘n’ Chip, Fresh Fries, world cuisine from Global Soul, fried dogs from The Greasy Wiener, and the Asian fusion stylings of komodo.

How can you possibly get the food to your car and risk missing even a moment of the movie? Fear not! The beautiful and dangerous ladies of the Long Beach Roller Derby will be working as car hops during the screening. Seriously? Seriously.

Tickets are $10. Admission does not include food. People without cars may bring low back beach chairs and blankets. There will be speakers projecting the sound for those who don’t have radios.

Admission begins at 6:30, with the film at 8 PM.
