The Queen Mary knows how to party, as far as food is concerned, and plans to show off such decadence this Friday with a 20-foot cake baked in the ship’s image. We haven’t a clue how they’re going to transport the enormity from kitchen to Grand Salon (we’re looking into it), but we do know that it will feed over 1,000 people with stomachs full of edible vintage ocean liner.

Jose Barajas, celebrity TV baker and pastry chef, will be designing what may be the world’s largest ship replica cake in honor of the Queen Mary’s 80th Anniversary party and press conference on September 26. The 20-foot-long cake will serve over 1,000 guests, with one slice containing a “special token.” The lucky cake-eater who finds the token—and manages not to swallow it—will win a luxury cruise on Cunard’s flagship, the Queen Mary 2. The winner will sail from Southampton to New York, with travel to be completed by December 2015.

Mrs. June Allen, who came to America aboard the Queen Mary in 1946 as a WWII bride, will participate in the cake cutting ceremony, along with other attending dignitaries. The Queen Mary General Manager, John Jenkins, will make an announcement concerning the ship, in addition to recognizing the Queen Mary’s 80 years of public service. Admission to the ship is free for the public on September 26 from 10:00AM to 7:00PM, with the Anniversary Reception and Press Conference beginning at 4:00PM in the Grand Salon.
